Fall/Winter 2011 Colour Trend: Purple
Colour trends for Fall/Winter 2011 look bright and vibrant. Though some designers stuck to monochrome palettes and prints, many experimented with shades of purple.
In New York, designers draped purple fabrics to create stunning evening wear. Malandrino used a darker shade to embody mystery and sophistication, while the indigo Halston dress gives off a whimsical, toga effect. Badgley Mischka combined shades of red, pink and purple in their flowing gown.
Alberta Ferretti and Blumarine incorporated the bright purple shade of purple reminiscent of Daphne from The “Scooby Doo” cartoon series, while Versace’s single-strap dress is accompanied by purple accessories.

Fall/Winter 2011 Trend: Luxurious Leather
Designers at Fashion Weeks ditched the traditional leather jacket and replaced it with slinky dresses and full skirts made from leather (and patent leather).
Kevork Kiledjian used the lace that he incorporated into many of his other designs, to create panels in this leather dress. Cynthia Steffe layered the fabric to create a wrap effect, and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano made an impact with this full leather skirt.
Fashion East put forth this leather shirt dress on the runway, while Giles opted for a catwoman-esque look, and Osman for a simple sleeveless dress.
The Versace collection included this punky jacket-dress with red buttons and a pleated skirt. MaxMara designed a simple leather top with a belt, and Trussardi created a cinch-like effect with the fabric in place of a waist belt.
Junya Watanabe’s leather dress with zippers has a futuristic look to it, whereas Lanvin and Loewe opted for city-girl looks with their pieces.
