Jumpsuit of the Day: Pixie Geldof at Fashion’s Night Out

For London’s “Fashion’s Night Out,” British model and socialite Pixie Geldof stepped out in this denim jumpsuit. Rather than looking hillbilly hick, ( a vibe that many denim jumpsuits tend to give off) she looks fashion-forward and chic. The long … Continue reading

Jumpsuit of the Day: Tess Daly in MaxMara

Tess Daly in MaxMara

41-year-old Tess Daly arrived at the Television and Radio Industries Club Awards held at Grosvenor Hotel in Central London last week, dressed in this bright orange jumpsuit. As stylish and tasteful as it appears from the front, the side angle shows slits that run thigh-high, and a wide cut-out back. The colour is fresh and the cut is funky, but although the garment may be stunning from the front, but in the back it awkwardly clings in places it shouldnt…

The jumpsuit appeared in the MaxMara Spring 2011 collection, shown last September at Milan Fashion Week. Actress Brooklyn Decker sported a purple jumpsuit from the same collection a few weeks ago; a similar backless and belted style, with high slits.

Fall/Winter 2011 Colour Trend: Red-Orange

With Fashion Weeks in Europe drawing to a close, a few colour trends stood out amongst the various collections. The Crayola shade of red-orange for instance, was used by designers in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

Carlos Miele, Proenza Schouler and Reed Krakoff in New York

Carlos Miele’s gathered jumpsuit will be a popular garment this fall season. Many neutral-coloured oversized blazers were spotted on the runways, but this Proenza Schueler piece is funky and eye-catching. And although black sheer dresses were a plenty amongst the New York collections, these sheer red-orange sleeves by Reed Krakoff give a fresh and cheery look to the trend.

Matthew Williamson, Issa and Betty Jackson in London

Matthew Williamson shows that red-orange pants can be edgy, and Issa gave grace and sophistication to this bright dress from his collection. Though Feretti’s outfit could have looked like a prison jumpsuit, the model carries it with a whimsical attitude.

Gabriele Colangelo, Blumarine and Alberta Feretti in Milan

Designers in Milan showed that red-orange outerwear will definitely be trendy this Fall, and Blumarine used cut-out lace in the same colour for a spin-off of the sheer lace dress.

Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel and Rue du Mail in Paris

Lanvin impressed viewers with dresses that incorporated movement and body, while Sonia Rykiel included red-orange stirrup leggings in her runway show, and Rue du Mail mixed Halloween colours in his red-orange piece.

Stay tuned for more colour trends from Fashion Weeks!
