Alexandre Herchcovitch showed his Fall/Winter 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection at New York Fashion Week last month. His clothes were bold and gothic, with an overall theme of what appeared to be ‘band diva meets female military officer, meets grunge glamour.’ Blacks, browns and army shades made up the colour palette, along with some bright yellow. His dresses were tent-shaped with stiff sleeves, and embellished with lace cutouts and trimmings.
It’s hard to imagine this jumpsuit on today’s average working woman– she would have to be a real fashion risk-taker. Nonetheless, the garment is not one to be written off as avant-garde Gaga clown piece. The puffy shoulders and unique side pleating make it a jumpsuit worthy of any daring city slicker with a macabre sense of style.
